Further opportunities for professional development in human factors / ergonomics is available by completing unit POM5005 Human factors for patient safety. This postgraduate master’s unit deals with organisation wide issues (macroergonomics) and is an elective unit in the Master of Health Services Management and Master of Public Health programs. Students can also enroll as a single unit or as a cross-institutional student (subject to the home institution approving this unit towards the respective course). This unit is available in semester 1 annually. As this unit has a quota, applicants are encouraged to apply by 31 December annually.

There are future plans to develop a master’s program in clinical human factors. Should these be realised, requirements to accept this short course as contributing to this degree will be communicated to short course participants.
